Bristol activist Princess Campbell appointed MBE

A community activist from Bristol has been appointed MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

Princess Campbell, 71, came to the UK from the Caribbean in the 1950s and worked as a ward sister at Glenside Hospital in the 1960s.

She then went on to open a number of multi-cultural sheltered housing provisions and founded the United Housing Association.

Mrs Campbell is a member of Bristol City Council's older people forum.

Also made an MBE is 90-year-old Joyce Harper who has taught dance in Bristol for the past 60 years.

She set up the Henleaze School of Dancing in 1946 and was given the President's Award by the Royal Academy of Dance in 2010.
