Sexual assault campaign launched by Avon and Somerset Police

  • Published

A campaign launched by Avon and Somerset Police aims to raise awareness of sexual assault among young people.

An information pack will be sent to schools and colleges outlining how teenagers can prevent becoming victims or perpetrators of sexual violence.

The campaign, Only Yes Means Yes, has been prompted by research showing that half of all "acquaintance rape" victims in the area are aged between 17 and 21.

Figures also show that reports of assaults go up around school holidays.

Advice around issues such as alcohol abuse, boundaries and sexual consent is also featured in the campaign.
