Public consultation begins on MoD sites in Bath

A public consultation has begun on the redevelopment plans for three Ministry of Defence (MoD) sites in Bath.

The three sites - Foxhill, Ensleigh and Warminster Road - are set to be sold off next March.

Bath and North East Somerset Council has said 11,500 new homes need to be built by 2026 and the land is being earmarked for the new estates.

People have until 30 May to comment on the council's draft development plans for each site.

Councillor Tim Ball said: "It is crucial that all three sites provide homes that are appropriate for our residents and reflect local need.

"The most effective way for local people to help us ensure this is by giving their views at this first step of the process."

The authority's draft plans and comment forms are available at libraries in Bath and on the council <link> <caption>website</caption> <altText> Bath & North East Somerset Council website</altText> <url href="http://www.bathnes.gov.uk/mod-conceptstatements" platform="highweb"/> </link> .

There will also be consultation events where people can find out more, talk to council officers and give their opinion.

The first takes place at Foxhill at St Andrews Community Church Hall, Hawthorne Grove, on Friday and Saturday.

Further events will take place in May.
