Plans for Bristol 20mph scheme are shown

Plans to reduce speed limits to 20mph across Bristol are to go on display at a series of library exhibitions.

The Liberal Democrat-run city council said the scheme would mean safer streets and encourage activities such as walking and cycling.

But the Conservatives have said the £2.3m scheme would be a failure.

The plans are on show at Redland Library. They can then be seen at Clifton on 21 September and Cheltenham Road on 22 September.

An online consultation has also been launched.

Plans to introduce the limit in most residential streets were approved by the Lib Dems in the summer.

Police have said enforcing the scheme, which will come into force over the next three years, would be extremely challenging.
