Two artists have transformed an empty shop into an interactive mural.

Nathan Murdoch and Stuart Payn have been creating the "dreamscape" mural in the Queensgate Shopping Centre, Peterborough.

The pair were approached by the shopping centre to help fill the blank space left by a vacant shop.

Mr Murdoch said being asked to do the large mural was a "big local win for a little Peterborough company".

"Shops don't happen overnight and we were asked to do something that filled the gap at the old John Lewis unit," said the 38-year-old.

"Stuart is a creative genius. His ideas are well out of the box, so he helped with the design.

"We have been painting it during the day and sometimes at night. The day shifts have been a blessing and a curse because it is lovely to speak to people, but you don't realise how long you're talking for and an hour has gone by."

Mr Murdoch has become well known for his murals, but he said being asked by Queensgate was a boost for his company, Street Arts Hire Ltd.

The mural features a range of animals with some created especially to take selfies with, said the artist.
