Bodmin murder trial: Single stab killed rugby player, court hears

Michael Riddiough-Allen died outside a nightclub in Bodmin on 30 April 2023

A knife wound a rugby player received caused unsurvivable damage to two major arteries, a trial has heard.

Michael Riddiough-Allen, 32, died "as a result of a single stab wound to the abdomen", pathologist Russell Delaney told Truro Crown Court.

The jury heard Mr Riddiough-Allen died at the scene outside a nightclub in Bodmin, Cornwall, on 30 April 2023.

Jake Hill, 25, Tia Taylor, 22, and Chelsea Powell, 22, all from Bodmin, deny murder,

The court has heard Mr Riddiough-Allen had been trying the break up a fight before he was stabbed.

In response to questions from a lawyer representing one of the accused, the pathologist said it was not possible to tell, from the injury alone, whether "the blade had moved into the body, or the body on to the blade, or a mixture of the two".

The trial continues.
