Footage shows man abseiling down cliff to take peregrine eggs

Footage has been released showing the moment a man abseiled down a quarry cliff face to take peregrine falcon eggs.

A hidden camera caught Christopher Wheeldon taking the eggs from the nest at Bolsover Moor Quarry, in Derbyshire.

Peregrine eggs are often taken to order for the middle eastern avian market and can fetch thousands of pounds.

Wheeldon, of Lime Grove, Darley Dale, Derbyshire, was jailed for 18 weeks at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on Monday.
