Plymouth dispersal order request approved

A dispersal order has been approved in Plymouth to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in parts of the city.
The order, authorised by Plymouth City Council, was requested by police and would cover Devonport, Stoke Village and Morice Town, the council said.
Such orders allow police to move people from an area when they are deemed to be causing a nuisance and prevent situations from escalating.
It comes into effect from 21 October until April 2012.
Plymouth City Council said the order would also back up a series of other measures already in place to prevent problems, including work to stop rough sleepers drinking on the street.
Youth workers and police were also to work with children during Halloween and Bonfire Night, it added.
