A 16-year-old boy has been charged over a stabbing in Topsham which left a man in his 30s with serious injuries.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the teenager had been charged with offences including possessing an offensive weapon and attempted robbery.

The man was stabbed in the arm and hand on Majorfield Road between 20:15 and 20:30 GMT on 5 January.

The victim was in Topsham to meet a stranger as part of the sale of a computer, police said.

The injured man fled the scene after the attack and took himself to hospital for treatment.

Police said the boy, who was charged with attempted robbery, GBH with intent, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place, appeared at Exeter Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

Another 16-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent has since been released with no further action.

Officers are keen to find a witness who police believe was threatened on the same road by an unknown person on 20 December.

Det Insp Michelle Westlake said: "This person may hold valuable information which could help with our enquiries."

Anyone with information about the incident or CCTV footage should contact police.
