South West Water apologises over sewage in Kingsbridge

South West Water (SWW) has apologised after sewage was seen overflowing from drains in a Devon town.
The sewage was reported overflowing from drains at the lower end of Kingsbridge.
Julia Wingate the manager of the Trading Post toy shop on Fore Street said the sewage had been "unsightly at times".
SWW said its engineers were doing "all they can to get to the bottom of the issue".
Sewage was reported to have been overflowing on Mill Street and the entrance to the Quay car park.
Ms Wingate said SWW had been there "every day pumping the sewage away".
"It is exacerbated by the extra rain. SWW are trying to sort out where the problem is.
"Because it is at the bottom of town, it has not affected the doorsteps of shops or businesses."
"Shoppers may find it a bit unsightly at times."
She added there was a separate footpath people could walk around the sewage.
"South West Water are doing their best," she said.
'Very sorry'
SWW apologised for the inconvenience the intermittent flooding had caused in the town.
A spokesperson said: "The wet weather has placed extra pressure on our network and we would like to reassure local residents that we are doing all we can to get to the bottom of the issue.
"We are using tankers to reduce any impact while we investigate why this has happened."
The company added it would take "urgent action to prevent future problems".
