Torridge District Council has announced a consultation on proposals for a new operations centre

Torridge District Council has announced a consultation on draft design proposals for a new operations centre.

The council said the new operational services centre was proposed for Alverdiscott Road, East-the-Water, Bideford.

It said it would provide office space for staff working in a variety of services.

Residents were invited to attend a consultation at Pollyfield Community Centre in Bideford from 15:00 BST.

The council said those who would work in the building include staff from waste and recycling, street cleaning, CCTV, harbour services and grounds maintenance.

Councillor Chris Leather, the council's lead member for operational services, said the new building would provide a modern working environment for staff.

"The new centre is now well overdue as the council currently operate across four very outdated and poorly serviced sites," he said.

"The newly designed site will enhance the way we operate."
