The operator of Bournemouth Pier in Dorset has applied to redevelop the Pier Theatre into an indoor adventure attraction.
Openwide International wants to create a surfing ride, climbing walls and a high ropes course.
The plans also include changing rooms, retail, food and drink areas and an improved foyer.
The proposed attraction would be called RockReef and would cost in the region of £3m, the company said.
The Pier Theatre opened in 1960 and regularly hosts tribute acts including Abba Forever, Think Floyd and Oasish.
