Dorchester's Dray Horse Yard opens with Bond premiere

The main square will now open in March 2013, according to property developers

The latest section of a £100m Dorset town centre regeneration project has opened.

Dray Horse Yard at the Brewery Square development in Dorchester was opened, along with a new multiplex cinema.

The Odeon was due to open its doors to an invited audience with a preview screening of the new James Bond film, Skyfall.

The development is housed within the site of the old Eldridge Pope brewery.

The cinema and a new restaurant, which are part of phase two of the development, are due to open to the public on Friday.

The main square of the regeneration project was also set to open this month but has been delayed until next spring due to the wet and windy weather of the summer, which meant cranes had been unable to operate.

Two more restaurants are expected at the site in January next year, with three more set to open in March.

Among the other approved proposals for the site is the conversion of the 130-year-old former brewery building into a hotel and spa, and homes.

Phase one of the scheme, which is now complete, involved the construction of a new health centre, shops and apartments.

The Eldridge Pope brewery closed in 2003.
