Harry Redknapp, who lives in Sandbanks, Dorset, started his managerial career at Bournemouth, becoming caretaker manager in 1982 before being appointed to the role permanently in 1983. One of the club's most notable successes under his stewardship came when The Cherries knocked Manchester United out of the FA Cup in the third round in 1984. During Redknapp's time as manager, Bournemouth won promoted to the second tier, but were relegated two years before his departure in 1992. |
It was on a trip to Spain to watch Madrid's two main teams, Real and Atletico, play in the Copa del Rey, that Harry Redknapp was mugged. He said two men fell to their knees and tugged at his trouser legs to distract him while four others took money and items from his pockets during the match. Redknapp said he did not report the mugging, which happened at Atletico's Vicente Calderon Stadium in January 2011, to police. He said he did not believe the men knew who he was. |
