Police have been stopping vehicles in Poole as they try to trace a driver who left a grandfather dying in the road.

Christopher Colegate, 69, was killed in Darby's Lane, at the junction of Heath Avenue, after the hit-and-run crash on 13 December.

Officers stopped motorists in the area between 18:45 and 20:00 GMT on Friday - exactly four weeks on from the crash.

Insp Matt Butler, of Dorset Police, said: "The driver is out there and knows what happened."

Officers believe the drivers of several cars and a man in a hooded top who passed Mr Colegate shortly before the crash may have information.

A reward of £2,000 for information is being offered.

The reward is made up of £1,000 each from both Crimestoppers and the Oakdale Conservative Club, where Mr Colegate was a member.
