James Raeburn's life was "just coming together", his family said

A cyclist who died in a crash with a car had been "the happiest he has ever been", his family has said.

James Raeburn, 40, was hit by a red Vauxhall Corsa on Julians Road in Wimborne, Dorset, on 4 October.

A local woman in her 20s was arrested on suspicion of driving offences. She was later released on police bail while inquiries continue.

Mr Raeburn's family said he was an "amazing and caring person" and had "overcome a lot of obstacles" in life.

Paying tribute, they said: "He had a love of '60s and '70s music and horror films. He would travel for miles on his bike and enjoy long walks.

"His life was just coming together, and he was the happiest he has ever been, enjoying his charity work at Oxfam in Parkstone, thanks to the staff he was more confident and sure of what he was doing.

"He was also starting to volunteer at Hospital Radio Bedside."

Sgt Gareth Thomas said Dorset Police was continuing to investigate the crash and appealed for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to contact the force.
