Essex Fire Service cuts survey gets 1,000 replies

More than 1,000 people have responded to a survey about attitudes to Essex Fire Service's proposed budget cuts.

The service said it was an opportunity for the public to "identify where efficiencies could best be made".

Mark Kinsalla, of the Fire Brigades Union, said he was disappointed the survey represented less than 1% of the county's population.

It asked residents for their views on cuts, station closures and work pattern changes.

Mr Kinsalla said he believed this was not detailed enough but he would be keen to see the feedback when it was available.

He said the union was also consulting with its members to find ideas to make savings so they could help the service save money.
