Sadlers Farm roadworks: A13 to be closed over weekend

A section of the A13 in Essex will be shut this weekend as part of ongoing roadworks.

The section between the Pitsea Flyover and the Sadlers Farm roundabout will be closed in both directions from 05:00 BST on Saturday to 05:00 BST on Monday.

The closure will allow the dismantling of the old Church Road bridge over the A13. Diversions will be in place.

It is part of a £63m scheme to upgrade the Sadlers Farm roundabout at the A13 and A130 junction.

The two-year project is expected to be completed by 31 May.

When finished, the junction will have a new link road between the eastbound A13 and northbound A130.

Its numerous mini-roundabouts will also be removed and returned to a traditional single-file roundabout.

Essex County Council apologised for the disruption the closure would cause, but said it was "absolutely necessary".
