Essex Police urged witnesses to get in contact

A woman was left with "serious injuries" after she was run over by a car while lying on the road due to a previous crash.

Essex Police arrived at the scene after the first incident, when a bike and a car collided, at 08:40 GMT in Great Chesterford, near Saffron Walden on Tuesday.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and the cyclist was lying on the ground when another car ran over one of her legs and did not stop.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries which are not believed to be life changing.

Essex Police is looking for witnesses.
