One hour parking is to return to Salisbury following an area board meeting attended by the public.
The 100-strong audience at the meeting at South Wilts Grammar School voted unanimously in favour of the return of a one-hour charge of £1.20 and a cut in the two-hour charge to £2.00.
Wiltshire Council abolished the one hour parking band in April, leading to criticism from businesses.
Discussions will now take place about pricing.
Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, Dick Tonge said following the meeting: "We listened to people and what they said.
In principle we agreed to it. It's now a matter of agreeing the pricing structure."
The agreement will now go through a consultation process before it is approved.
