Gloucester Food Bank 'struggling for funds'

The Gloucester Food Bank says it is struggling to find adequate funds while demand for its services is rising.

The organisation, which helps feed families in need, says its current income levels cover just over half of its outgoings.

Manager Anneliese Sterry said she had seen an increase of about 20% in clients over the past year, many of them with children.

The food bank currently has about six tonnes of food.

"It seems that a lot more of them are people who have children," Ms Sterry said. "I would say it's more clients with families that are struggling.

"People on low incomes, I've seen an increase in that, I've seen an increase in people coming in because of debt."

She appealed for help with fund-raising.
