Gloucestershire College new campus plans for Forest of Dean unveiled

The proposed college site in the Forest of Dean is due to open in 2015.

Designs for a proposed new campus for Gloucestershire College in the Forest of Dean have been unveiled.

The new £14m campus, including a training college, a sixth form and a social centre, could be built as part of Cinderford's regeneration.

The planned independent sixth form would be run jointly by the college and Dene Magna School in Mitcheldean.

Work is due to start in Spring 2014 and is scheduled to be completed by August 2015, if planning is approved.

College principal, Matthew Burgess, said; "I am really excited to see the plans progressing to develop a new college in the Forest of Dean giving the community there the education facility it deserves."

Steve Brady, head teacher at Dene Magna School, said; 'We are delighted that the months of hard work have culminated in a design for a new college that will bring the very best education to the Forest of Dean."

In 2011 the former Royal Forest of Dean College in Coleford merged with Gloucestershire College, which also operates from various sites in the county, including in Gloucester and Cheltenham.

Investigation work is due to begin at the site within the Cinderford Northern Quarter regeneration zone soon. A planning application is due to be submitted next year.
