Portsmouth naval crews send Christmas messages to loved ones

There is nothing better than being with loved ones at Christmas.

For many people though, that's not possible. Amongst those who'll be separated from family and friends over the festive season will be some of those serving in the armed forces.

Members of the crew on board Portsmouth-based HMS Tamar and HMS Spey have recorded special Christmas messages for their loved ones at home.

Thousands of military personnel will spend the holidays at bases and on board ships dotted around the world.
