The roof of a derelict aquatic centre has collapsed following a fire.

It broke out at the former World of Water site on Greatbridge Road in Romsey on Friday at about 19:30 BST.

Over 50 firefighters from seven stations, along with crews from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Service, were sent to the blaze.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue said nobody was hurt in the fire and a crew would remain on the scene on Saturday morning to dampen down.

The fire service said a cause had not yet been established and an investigation would be launched once the fire was out.

People living nearby were told to close their windows as smoke billowed from the fire on Friday evening.

In July 2023, a large fire spread through buildings at the former aquatic supplies centre, which closed in 2020.
