First British amputee fireman calls on others to apply

Simon Hawkins from Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, became the first amputee firefighter in Europe more than 10 years ago.

The keen biker lost part of his leg in an accident in 2004.

But despite his story hitting the headlines, there's thought to be only one other amputee firefighter in Britain.

He's now encouraging others to consider the fire service as a career.
