Firefighters had to pump out a cesspit full of waste to rescue a cow which had fallen in.

They were called to a farm near Bromyard, Herefordshire, on Tuesday and were able to lift the animal out after sedating her.

A local vet was called to assist and Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said she was then "put on some nice dry clean straw".

It said it had been "a mucky afternoon" for its large animal rescue team.
