Alfie Steele: Grandparents' anger at safeguarding response
The grandparents of Alfie Steele, killed by his mum and her partner, say they have been left angered at the response by professionals to safeguarding concerns.
More than 60 calls were made to police and social services before the nine-year-old's murder in Droitwich in 2021.
A safeguarding report published on Friday highlighted a catalogue of missed opportunities by professionals.
"It just makes me want to cry the amount of time it shows in here that Alfie didn't have to die," grandfather Paul Scott said.
Hearing about the 64 referrals made him "very angry," he added.
"Every single one of them times is a time they could have stopped my grandson from dying."
