More than 50 schools in East Yorkshire were closed on Monday as heavy snow and ice continued to affect the region.
Police said driving conditions on many roads in the region were hazardous and urged motorists to take extra care.
The Lund bypass was closed after a car hit a telegraph pole. The B1249 near Driffield was also closed.
Forecasters expect the wintry conditions to last for the rest of the week, with a severe weather warning issued for Yorkshire and Humber.
On Monday evening, Humberside Police warned motorists that visibility was "quite bad" on the A180 and M180 in and out of Grimsby in North East Lincolnshire.
Gritters were out on those two main roads preparing for another night of snowfall.
In East Yorkshire, the A1079 and A166 around the back roads of Huttage and Skirpenbeck were described by police as "very dangerous".
Bins disruption
A Humberside Police spokesperson said: "Today we have not experienced a high volume of incidents on our roads, however, we are now approaching the evening when the temperatures are expected to drop further and more snow is predicted.
"Police are urging anyone travelling around the region to be cautious."
East Riding of Yorkshire Council said it was equipped to deal with the cold weather and had high levels of salt stocks for its gritters.
Hull City Council said the wintry weather disrupted bin collections on Monday.
"Waste not collected today will be logged and collected at the earliest opportunity when it is safe to do so," the council said.
Temperatures overnight on Saturday plummeted to -14C at Topcliffe in North Yorkshire - Yorkshire's coldest November night since official records began.
