Hundreds of people have attended the funeral of 72-year-old Bruce Wilkinson who was killed by a gunman in the Tunisia terror attack.

The grandfather was among 30 British victims of the beach attack near Sousse that left 38 people dead on 26 June.

Mr Wilkinson's funeral was held at St John's Church in his hometown of Goole, East Yorkshire.

His family paid tribute to "a kind, compassionate man with a dry sense of humour who would be deeply missed".

Among those who attended the funeral was Conservative MP for Brigg and Goole Andrew Percy, who has been supporting Mr Wilkinson's family.

Mr Percy said the family wanted "to thank everyone who turned out today, it's been an incredible source of support to them".

"Seeing so many people at the church and on the street, I think that really has been of great comfort to the family in what was a really lovely service and a celebration of Bruce's life," he said.

Mr Wilkinson was retired, having worked at Drax power station, and was described by his family as a "kind and compassionate man" who was a "devoted husband, father and grandfather".

Funerals of seven other Britons killed in the attack - including three members of the same family - have also taken place.

A service of remembrance for all those caught up in the beach attack is to take place in the autumn, the government has announced, external, and a memorial dedicated to them will be built.
