The company said the bulk of successful applicants, 90%, had come from within a 30 mile radius of Hull.
Siemens said 10% of the workforce were women, which it claimed was double the usual number employed in large-scale engineering and manufacturing.
The 10 acre (40,000 sq m) blade factory, which is building 250ft-long (75m) rotor blades designed for 6MW turbines, is part of a 133 acre (540,000 sq m) development.
The factory is expected to be full operational next year.
