Humberston Fitties holiday park preferred bidder is revealed

There are about 320 single-storey chalets on the site

The buyer of a holiday park on the coast of the Humber estuary has been revealed.

North East Lincolnshire Council said the preferred bidder for the Humberston Fitties is a company called Tingdene Ltd, which owns about 40 similar parks.

Tingdene is in negotiation for a long leasehold of the site, first developed after World War One.

The park's residents had hoped to run the 320-chalet park with a £1.5m community bid.

Paul Spriggins, of Tingdene said: "We intend to consult with the existing chalet owners and listen to their views, as well as the community group and prominent stakeholders.

"We look forward to safeguarding the next 100 years of use for existing and new residents."

The Fitties chalets were placed in council control in 1938.

The council discussed offloading the site in 2014, put it up for sale in October, agreed in principle to dispose of it in January and selected its unnamed, preferred bidder - now identified as Tingdene - earlier this month.
