A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of another man in a house fire.

Anthony Ibbitson, 54, died in hospital two days after being rescued from the blaze at a property in Terry Street, Hull on 29 November.

Humberside Police said a 27-year-old man arrested in connection with his death was being held in custody.

The force is continuing to appeal for anyone with information about the fire to come forward.

Det Ch Insp Amy Keane-Christie said: "Over the course of the last two weeks a team of detectives have worked around the clock conducting extensive lines of enquiry into Anthony's death.

"Anthony's family continue to be supported by specially trained officers at this time, and we would continue to appeal to members of the public to come forward with any information that may assist with our continuing investigation."

Speaking earlier this month Mr Ibbitson's family said they were "truly heartbroken and devastated" by his death.

In a tribute, they said: "Tony was loved by so many people; he will never be forgotten."
