Arrests made in Kent car crime swoop

More than 150 people have been arrested in Kent in the first two weeks of a police operation to tackle car crime.

Kent Police launched the initiative on 4 April and arrested 81 people in the first seven days.

Officers also searched 28 properties during the first fortnight of the operation.

Among the items recovered were cars and bikes, credit cards, satellite navigation equipment, games consoles and other electrical items.

Assistant Chief Constable Gary Beautridge said: "We are continuing to target known vehicle crime offenders and this week have made a number of arrests and carried out further warrants, leading to our officers recovering more stolen property.

"As a result of the arrests over the first two weeks of this operation, more than 500 crimes have been detected."
