Gas reconnected to 120 homes in Sevenoaks area

Some of the 800 homes in West Kent which lost their gas supply after the pipe network became flooded with water have been reconnected.

The homes in the Halstead area of Sevenoaks were cut off at the weekend.

A spokesman for Southern Gas Networks said 2,000 litres of water had now been extracted from the mains and 120 homes had been visited by engineers and reconnected.

He added it could take several days before all homes were reconnected.
