Reindeer escaped from Lancashire garden centre

A baby reindeer which escaped from a Lancashire garden centre was found grazing on the shore nearby.

The reindeer was one of three which arrived at Bay View Garden Centre in Mill Lane, Bolton-le-Sands on Thursday.

A member of staff arrived to work just after 08:00 GMT to find it had got out of its pen and was in the car park.

Garden centre workers tried to shepherd it back but it escaped to the beach, about 600m away, before it was persuaded to return to the pen.

A spokeswoman for the garden centre said it had been grazing on grass near the shore and had come to no harm during its jaunt.
