A man has been arrested after a pensioner suffered facial injuries when he was attacked after answering a knock on his front door.

The man - in his late 70s - suffered facial injuries in the assault on Maple Avenue, Fleetwood, at about 22:15 GMT on Saturday, Lancashire Police said.

A 25-year-old man, from Blackpool, was arrested on suspicion of assault and attempted burglary and is currently in custody.

Inquiries were continuing, police said.
