Lenny Scott was targeted in a "abhorrent assassination", Lancashire Police said

Detectives investigating the death of a man who was shot outside a gym have arrested a woman on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

Lenny Scott was found injured in Peel Road, Skelmersdale, at about 19:35 GMT on 8 February and died in hospital.

The 33-year-old father-of-three was targeted in an "abhorrent assassination", Lancashire Police said.

On Tuesday, a 63-year-old woman was arrested before being bailed pending further inquiries.

A 34-year-old man from Liverpool was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and money laundering and was released under investigation.

Four men from Liverpool have been arrested during the investigation - a 34-year-old and a 25-year-old on suspicion of murder, a 37-year-old on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and a 27-year-old on suspicion of assisting an offender.

They have all been released on conditional bail.

Police said they knew the gunman left the murder scene outside the gym on an e-bike and headed towards Digmoor in Skelmersdale, and then to Upholland.

They are continuing to ask for people to come forward with CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage.
