Tour de Yorkshire start and finish times announced

Organisers hope the race will attract the world's leading road cyclists to Yorkshire

Start and finish times for the Tour de Yorkshire race in May have been announced by organisers.

Stage one from Bridlington to Scarborough will have a ceremonial start at 11:45 BST on South Marine Drive outside the Bridlington Spa.

The cyclists will ride 5km (3.1 miles) before the official race start at Sewerby at 12:00.

There will be over 500km (310 miles) of racing through Yorkshire between 1 and 3 May.

Stage one will finish between 16:00 and 16:30 on Royal Albert Drive in Scarborough.

Stage two will begin at 11:20 outside Selby Abbey and finish between 15:30 and 16:00 on Knavesmire Road in York.

The final stage will start at 12:15 outside Wakefield Cathedral and end between 16:30 and 17:00 at Roundhay Park in Leeds.

Gary Verity, chief executive of organisers Welcome to Yorkshire, said: "This is going to be an extremely exciting three days for Yorkshire.

"Fans, spectators and businesses can now begin to plan their weekend, where to watch and how to get the best out of the event."
