E-bike charging caused house fire in Wakefield

The fire broke out at about 07:00 BST

A charging e-bike was the cause of a blaze which destroyed a house in Wakefield, the fire service said.

Firefighters and police were called to the fire on Potter Avenue just after 07:00 BST on Saturday.

Six people inside the property all escaped but one man was taken to hospital seriously hurt while five others suffered minor injuries.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the cause of the blaze following an investigation.
