Leicester road's first phase of revamp is finished

The first phase of a £1.5m landscaping project on a major route into Leicester has been completed.

Nearly two miles of aging metal fencing along Narborough Road South has been replaced with a new barrier made with recycled plastic panels.

The second phase of planting trees and shrubs should be finished by Christmas.

Officials said as well as improving the appearance of the area, the project gave them an opportunity to upgrade lighting, drains and the road surface.

The developer-funded project runs between the Asda roundabout and Braunstone Lane.
