Pair guilty over ex-Leicestershire police officer Paul Fyfe's murder

The court was told Hirsi killed Mr Fyfe after a row at his girlfriend's house in Rowlatts Hill last June

Two men have been jailed for a total of 42 years for the murder of a former Leicestershire police officer.

Paul Fyfe, 47, died from a single stab wound following a row at his girlfriend's house in Rowlatts Hill last June.

Mohammed Hirsi, 25, from Spinney Hill, was ordered to serve a minimum of 22 years for stabbing Mr Fyfe.

Ameen Jogee, 22, of no fixed address, was jailed for 20 years. Each man had blamed the other for the murder.

Mr Fyfe was stabbed through the heart

Sentencing the pair at Nottingham Crown Court, Mrs Justice Linda Dobbs called Hirsi a "cold, arrogant and dangerous man".

'Angry text'

The court was told Hirsi stabbed Mr Fyfe through the heart at the house of 30-year-old Naomi Reid, while Jogee egged him on from the doorstep.

The court heard how the pair had previously spent the night at Ms Reid's home.

When they left, Ms Reid sent an angry text to Jogee, telling him not to bring Hirsi, who she had never met before that night, to her home again.

The pair returned to Ms Reid's house at about 02:00 BST on 10 June last year and Mr Fyfe came downstairs when he heard voices.

Both Hirsi and Jogee were asked to leave, which resulted in Hirsi picking up a kitchen knife and stabbing Mr Fyfe in the chest. The pair then fled the scene.
