A man has been jailed for life at the Old Bailey after being found guilty of the murder of a 42-year-old man who was stabbed in east London.

Robert Darby was found in Perth Road, Gants Hill in Ilford, on 24 August 2005 and died in hospital the following day.

Mr Darby, of Byng Street, died from a stab wound to the chest. He was stabbed following an altercation, police said.

Jason Moore, 43, of no fixed abode, has been ordered to serve a minimum of 18 years. He had denied murder.

Moore fled to Spain on the day of the murder and then to Dubai.

He was arrested on 4 October last year when he returned to the UK and was subsequently charged with murder, the Met Police said.
