A man has been left with facial injuries after being struck with a handgun during a robbery at a Bury estate agents.

Two men "burst into" Pearson Ferrier on Walmersley Road at about 16:35 BST on Wednesday, police said.

The pair were armed with a spanner or wrench and a "silver handgun", forced staff into a room and left with a "substantial amount of cash".

Police believe the men used a green Mazda, which was later found abandoned.

Det Sgt Ian Partington said the men had been "intent on causing as much fear and intimidation as possible".

"Understandably, everyone who works at this estate agents is absolutely shocked and appalled about what happened.

"For their peace of mind, we need to find these dangerous men and I would appeal to anyone who has information about what happened to come forward."
