Greater Manchester Police officer arrested in child abuse probe

  • Published

A Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officer has been arrested on suspicion of historical sex offences against a child.

He was arrested as part of an inquiry into child abuse between the 1970s and 1980s, before he worked for the force.

GMP says the 50-year-old control room call hander has not been suspended, but is not "currently carrying out front-line policing duties".

He has been released on police bail while an investigation is carried out.
