An overnight frost has affected power cables, suspending nearly all tram services

Nearly all tram services across Greater Manchester were suspended due to frost on overhead power cables.

Temperatures dropped to below freezing on Friday night, leaving people waking up to icy conditions on Saturday.

All services apart from the Bury to Piccadilly route were halted until after 12:00 GMT, according to the Metrolink website, external.

Services resumed at about 12:15 GMT but were subject to severe delays.

Metrolink tickets can also be used on train services where trams are affected, including Northern Rail services between Rochdale and Manchester Victoria.

Replacement bus services were also in operation.
