Six shootings that have taken place in Manchester within the past 15 days are linked to a gang feud, police said.

Detectives said innocent people had been caught up in the violence "between two sets of rival criminal groups".

Eight shootings have occurred since 22 December. Police believe six of those were "targeted" gang-related attacks.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the attempted murder of a man shot in the chest on Salisbury Road on 30 December.

The fronts of a property in Chorlton-cum-Hardy and another address in Crumpsall were shot at on Tuesday night, police said.

They have been linked to two shootings on Boxing Day and New Year's Day on Lytham Road in Levenshulme.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the attacks were "reckless".

Supt David Pester said one dispute was in Rusholme and Moss Side, while the other affected Levenshulme, Chorlton-cum-Hardy and Crumpsall.

He appealed for anyone with information to contact police, saying: "Any information will be treated in confidence."
