Madelin Fulcher said she could not believe she had bumped into Harry Styles's mum in Ikea

A student who got the inside scoop on Harry Styles's new buzz cut when she bumped into his mum in Ikea has said she never expected her TikTok about the encounter to get "so much attention".

Madelin Fulcher, 20, was in the Warrington store on Sunday when she spotted Anne Twist in the aisles.

She said she could not resist asking if the rumour about his hair was true.

As it was, she shared the news on social media and found her video receiving more than one million views.

"I didn't realise it would get so much attention, but because Anne confirmed he had no hair, that's where it picked up the views," she said.

"To me, I was excited I met Harry Styles' mum, but to everyone else, it was 'Harry's got no hair'."

So far, Styles has only shared one image of his new look

The University of Liverpool student, from Bury in Greater Manchester, said she had been a huge fan of Styles since his One Direction days and had been to seven of his shows in the past year alone.

She said she had heard the rumour about his new hairstyle online, but had been hoping it was not true, so when she thought she spotted the star's mum in the Cheshire furniture store, she knew what she had to do.

"We were about to leave and I said to my dad, 'I need to know if that's her because I will never get the opportunity to meet her again'," she said.

However, she said after confirming it was Styles's mum, she became emotional.

"I said to her, 'I'm so sorry, I'm such a loser for crying'," she said.

"She said, 'don't ever call yourself a loser'... and she pulled me in for a massive hug."

Madelin said she had seen Styles perform nine times, including seven times in the last year

She said the conversation quickly turned to the star's hair.

"I have no filter, so it sort of just came up," she said.

She said as soon as she mentioned it, she "wondered whether I should", but Twist was "completely blasé about it", telling her that her son had "just fancied a change" while on holiday.

She posted a video on TikTok about the encounter later the same day and got a "crazy" reaction, attracting more than 350,000 views on her personal account and more than one million views on another fan account.

On Thursday, fans were finally given a first glimpse of Styles's new look in an Instagram post.
