Holmes Chapel horse rescued after sliding into ditch

The horse was assessed by a vet and handed back to its owner
Firefighters were called to rescue a stricken horse that had fallen in a ditch.
The crew went to help a farmer near Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, after the unfortunate mare slid down an embankment and became stuck.
Firefighters from Lymm, Middlewich and Bollington attended early on Saturday morning.
The horse was assessed by a vet and given back into the care of its owner, a fire service spokesperson said.
