Police watchdog IOPC investigates roof fall death in Salford

Police said there were concerns for the man's welfare

The death of a man who fell from a roof as officers engaged with him is being investigated by the police watchdog.

The incident happened in Trevor Road, Eccles, Greater Manchester, at about 12:00 GMT on Friday.

A spokesman for the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said it had been notified of the death by Greater Manchester Police.

He said police had been called to a "concern for welfare".

The spokesman added: "We understand the man fell and has sadly died. IOPC investigators are attending the scene and post incident procedures.

"We are assessing the available information to determine the level of IOPC involvement required.

"Our thoughts are with the man's family and friends and all those affected."
