Moss Side stabbing: Murder inquiry after teenager dies

A murder inquiry has been launched after a teenage boy was fatally stabbed in Manchester.
The 17-year-old was attacked in Raby Street, Moss Side, at about 16:15 BST on Thursday, Greater Manchester Police said.
He was taken to hospital where he later died.
Det Supt Simon Moyles described it as "a tragic and senseless loss of life" and said no arrests had been made.
He appealed for information and said officers would patrol the area in coming days.
Det Supt Moyles appealed for information or footage of the attack, which he said would be treated in the "strictest confidence".
"If you do have information to share, I urge you to do the right thing and report it to police," he added.
One Raby Street resident told BBC Radio Manchester the boy's death was "really sad" and stabbings like this were happening "way, way too often".
"I don't understand why there's no cameras. I don't feel safe at all," they said.
Community activist Prof Erinma Bell MBE, who has campaigned to tackle gun crime in the area, said the boy's death left her "saddened, upset, and bewildered".
She said Moss Side was a "community of families" who were "all affected" by incidents like this
"We had the gun and gang crime which was very unfortunate, but we have battled that as a community and we have changed Moss Side around," she said.
But Prof Bell said that despite this further funding was needed for outreach work for young people who were not in school.
